Emmanuel Macron, President of France and Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India was awarded the champions of the earth award, which is the UN’s highest environmental recognition, in the Policy Leadership category on Wednesday.
They were recognised for their commendable work in the International Solar Alliance and enhancing the level of cooperation on environmental action, this also includes Macron’s work on the Global Pact for the Environment and Modi’s pledge to eliminate all single-use plastic in India by 2022.
Mr Macron has mortgaged extra 700 million Euro for solar energy projects in developing nations append to the 300 Euro million in 2015 which targets to produce 1 trillion watts of solar power by 2030
